The E.ON and CLEVER partnership announced their ambition to roll out ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles along the main European motorway corridors in February. This strategy sets off now. E.ON and CLEVER unveil a partnership with YX in Norway, which will bring ultra-fast chargers to initially 20 YX service stations across Norway.
Teaming up with YX means for E.ON and CLEVER to secure some of the best locations in Norway. The YX service stations are placed along the main transport corridors. The partners plan to connect the largest cities in Norway, from Oslo to Kristiansand, Stavanger, Bergen, and all the way to Trondheim. This network will also connect Norway with the rest of Scandinavia and Europe. The ultra-fast chargers will be installed from 2018 to 2020.
The YX network of service stations comprises of more than 200 service stations in Norway, and initially 20 of these along the main transport corridors will be equipped with ultra-fast chargers offering charging with 150 kilowatt (kW) performance, and with a modular upgrade option to 350 kW, as the technological development progresses further. E.ON and CLEVER also expressed that they were looking for more partners, e.g. financial investors, site owners or car manufacturers.
The transportation sector accounts for one third of greenhouse gas emissions in Norway. In parallel with an increasing share of biofuels, we believe our future portfolio consists of several different zero-emission alternatives. A number of politically driven incentives to support the switch to EVs have today made Norway the leading EV country in Europe with more than 100,000 electric cars.
